cherrynberry’s Hatch-Along!

Okay, so we have 5 more eggs under a broody hen right now, 1 egg is on day 19 and the other 4 are on day 17. So I will be updating on her eggs as well. We are going to remove the first egg that is older probably. Also, we now have her separated in a mini run, taken from a prefab coop.
First broody chick hatched today!! It has a HUGE beard

We got 2 more chicks under the broody, so now, 3 in total. :) These are the two new white/blonde ones.
Turns out their was only 3 that have hatched. The leftover 2 eggs died in later incubation. We also gave her the other 4 chicks from the original hatch. She is a GREAT mom!!!! We originally seperated her in a seperate run. But I let her out and the rooster did not attack the chicks, nor did the other hens. I did it with caution with the help of @turkey girl 0964 , but I was sure our rooster was not going to do much because I never saw him peck our welsummer chicks, he is pretty timid. Sure enough, I checked on the chicks many times today and they were doing amazing! I just had to teach them how to use the water a little, but they are doing great! Let her sleep in the run with the chicks tonight. She took in the new chicks at night, so I don’t want the new batch of chicks running off and getting killed. I have seen her peck other hens also, she is so nervous when I touch her chicks! It’s one of the best experiences ever!
