Chic Chick 'Bator *UPDATED*

I can't wait to try this! From how everyone's saying how great their hatch rates are, and the fact that you can make one for under 50 bucks, this is probably going to be one of my first projects when I get my own place. ^_^

Something that might be really cool, MissPrissy, and this is just a thought, if you ever decide to make another once of these, perhaps you could take video of the construction and put it up on youtube. That would certainly help the utterly clueless people (like me).

I'm so glad to hear others are having trouble with temp swings, even using a water sink. I was about to give up.
I can't find a water wiggler, so I tried the baggies w/water and even that temp swings terribly. Guess I'll just keep tweaking and see what I can do.

you can order water wigglers online. But I havent resorted to that yet...we are going on a search and distroy mission today for a water wiggler....thats the last thing we need to finish ours YIPPIE!!!

hate it when DH is laid off, but at least he has a project to do

AMEN! I have checked Dollar Tree, Party Central, Wal-Mart, Target....none anywhere!

I am using one now made out of water inside a sandwich bag, then put inside another bag to prevent leaks, then rolled up and stuffed in a toilet paper roll. It seems to work ok, but I want to get the real thing. Does it matter about the color or the clarity of the water wiggler? I read somewhere that some colors may get hotter than others...?

Where did you hear that the colours vary?

I would be pleased to see the research behind this, otherwise it is just another piece of guessing that you can safely ignore.

By the way ... decent sandwich bags don't leak, and you can prolly do without the toilet roll holder, although that might make it a little neater.

Water wigglers do lose water over a period of time, and need replacing. Making your own isn't a bad alternative.

I couldn't find one, either, so I made one out of Glad snack bags (they're half the size of a ziploc). I filled it half full of warm water, folded it in half, and put my temp probe in the fold. Seems to be working great.
