Chicago backyard chicken owner needs help/advice PLEASE

Cats rarely bother chickens, especially domestic ones. Lots of pics on here of cats hanging with or even sleeping with chickens. A hungry group of ferals could be a problem. Cats do, however, take young chicks.

If your dogs spend the day with your chicken, they are probably keeping her pretty safe.

A look through the breed/gender section might reassure you that yours is a she. Even female Leghorns have huge combs, so you'll have to look at the feathers. Males have long thin pointy groups of feathers at the, sort of, shoulders, and another group above the tail. (Hackle and saddle feathers.) It is possible he doesn't crow because there are no other chickens around, but I'll bet it's because she is a she.
