Newb here. My 5 wk old australorp pullet was ‘yawning’ (mouth gaping open, neck extended) while handling her. Kind of looked like a cross between swallowing and yawning? Probably saw her do it 5 or 6 times. She’s the smallest of the flock. What does this mean?

Had she been eating recently? She may have had something caught in her throat. Is she okay now?
I saw all of them eating soon after, her crop feels pretty normal so I’ll check again in the morning to make sure it goes back down! Thanks for the tip!

one of mine started to do that . Almost like she wanted to crow like a rooster . I read she may have a type of worm in her throat . I wormed her and it stopped

Could just be adjusting the crop. You can find videos of what it looks like.

"She" could be a rooster. My rooster who I thought was a hen at the time, started doing that at 4-6 weeks and turned out to be a rooster. The first time I realized it, I thought it was a yawn but the 7th or 8th time it happened a weird noise came out.
