yesterday my chicks started to hatch at day 23 and today one of them has been abandoned by mum. It’s struggling to stand up and if it manages only for a short amount of time. I’ve never hand raised a baby chick this young can anyone give me any suggestions on how to look after it and if it’s got splayed legs or something wrong with it’s neck

Can you post any pictures of the chick? Do you have a heat plate or other heat source? B complex 1/4 tablet daily crushed and adde to a spoonful of water) with riboflavin and other b vitamins can be helpful. A chick vitamin such as Poultry Cell ( 2 drops daily) or other (check label for riboflavin) may be helpful with leg issues. Chick slings can be helpful for chicks struggling to walk, just to get them up and get enough food and water. Splay leg is easily fixed with a leg hobble. But other leg issues (slipped tendon or leg bone deformities) may not be fixed. Here is a good link for chicken sling designs:

It’s legs are quite far apart it moves around a little then lies down.

The hen is concerned about the chicks as a group. If one can't keep up she would rather abandon it than jeopardize the well-being and schooling of the group. I would let nature take it's course rather than trying to salvage a chick with a lot of developmental problems.
