Shavings are safe, but use pine shavings. Or straw, which is 100% safe all the time (except when moldy).Ugh are u serious I read on so many things people said to use that. So what bedding should I use ?
x2. Have feed and water at the edge of the heat, so overheated and underheated chicks can both access it. Switch your chicks' bedding asap.Cedar gives off toxic fumes. Get those out of the brooder ASAP. Second, you need both a cool zone and warm zone in the brooder. Heat lamp needs to be at one end, pointed straight down. You aren't trying to heat the whole thing, just one small area. Chicks need to be able to escape the heat so that they don't overheat and die.
Yeah switching bedding out and the heat lamp onky at the end they sleep on and food on other side. So they have a warm and cool side. So is there a way to counteract the poison effects?x2. Most likely overheated. Get it drinking by dipping the beak into the water. The chick is also very warm compared to the other ones and it's breathing is slower than normal but not that slow.
No way to counteract the effects of cedar. You just have to wait it out, and hope you caught it quick enough. Where these shipped chicks or did you pick them up locally?Yeah switching bedding out and the heat lamp onky at the end they sleep on and food on other side. So they have a warm and cool side. Ok I will try and get it cool. I got an from a feed store in Odessa,fl so I'm not sure where they came from before. But i sent my bf like 45mim away to get the nutri drench so hope that helps also. Most likely overheated. Get it drinking by dipping the beak into the water.
