My cute little chick got attacked by my dog. The poor little chick was completely on shocked and was bleeding on her tail. I disinfected the wound and place her in an another coop for her to rest. After a while she was on her feet drinking and eating, so I decided to put her back in the main coop (bad move!) She was getting pecked by the others but wasn't moving, it's like she was playing dead. She tried a few times to be next to the others but they all rejected her (it's like they knew she was injured and weak). I decided to build her a small cage with wire, put her inside and leave the cage in the run (with some electrolytes and some food) for the other girls be able to see her (it thought it will be easier to reintroduce her), but tonight I brought her in our house. She seems very scared and shocked. She is sitting on my DH but doesn't really move. She peeps slightly and seems ok, so I don't really know what to do else. Tomorrow morning I will put her back on her cage and hopefully in a few days she will recover. How long do chicks take to recover (emotionally). Do the other chicks are going to peck on her once I put her back? I am so worry, my stomach hurts. I hope everything will go back to normal and she will make it.

I hope everything will be okay too! Chicks can stay in shock from an attack for quite a while, add to it the fear that comes from being alone and she's had a really tough nite! Can she have a chicken buddy with her while she is healing so when it's time to re-introduce to the flock she won't be so easy to pick on (figuratively and literally)? I'm glad you cleaned up her wound, bites can get infected quickly. Make sure the flies cannot get into her wound or you will have a whole 'nother mess on your hands w/ maggots. As for the pecking, there is a product called blue kote that is available at most farm/feed stores. It will help keep the wound clean and to cover the red that is so appetizing to chickens to peck at. Best of luck to you and your chick!

Thank you for your answer. I went to the feed store and got the blue kote as you suggested and applied it on her, put her back to the emergency coop inside the run after sleeping in our house (i didn't feel comfortable leaving her outside by herself) and she stayed for a bit, and after a while i put her back with the flock. She did awesome, no one pecked on her. What a relieve! Now she is doing great, the wound is ok, i think she got more scared than anything. I think my dog didn't have time to hurt her more than a few scratches. I am so happy! Thanks again.
