Chick attacked by weasel

Hi all - So here I am once again looking for any type of help. Our chick (Princess) is still hanging on. It appears to have done some type of damage to her neck. I have been feeding her through an eye dropper and she is still interested in food. She stands, but when it comes to moving her neck she keeps it off to one side.

I took her to the vet and they were useless. He didnt advise any antibiotics.

Her neck really doesn't look bad. She has some bruising where the bite was. No swelling at all. I swear if I could put a brace on it to stabilized it she could pull through.

Anyone with thought or opinions on this. I'm so torn as to try and keep her going or let her go.

My parrot when he hatched he had a kink in his neck, I took him to our Avain Vet and he wore a brce on his neck for a few months to help in straightening it back out so that he could eat and get his head off of his back. Not that you really care about my parrot but I know what type of material he used for my parrots neck brace!!! He told me.

It is a soft sheet of foam that you get when you buy photo paper for developing from a camera store like Wolf or Ritz camera. I know that Kodak brand photo developing paper has it inside the box.

He would measure my parrots neck base of neck to the base of his head. Cut the foam flat but wide enough to fold it in half use the white fabric medical tape to hold the fold together then wrap it around his neck cut off the extra he just wanted the two ends to meet in the front then tape around the foam to hold it on.

Does this make any sense to you....?

I almost suggested this once before, when someone had a similiar problem, it seemed like something that could help. I would cut down a TP or paper towel roll, slit it up the side to attach it around the neck, line it with gauze or some type of cotton product and then tape back together. Also I would bring the cotton over the top and bottom so as not to dig in around their head, jaw or back. Hope all goes well for you. Debbie

Thank you both for the reply. I have tried the toilet paper roll and it works ok. I will give the other a shot. I think I have what your talking about.

I edited to add; I see that I can get antibiotics on line. Do you need a licence for that? I wouldnt mind trying some. Can someone give me an idea, if yes, what kind?

I would suggest some type of very flexible foam tubing (look in your DIY store > often used for around copper pipes) the paper toilet roll would stress the bird out in my opinion as the edges would be sharp and uncomfortable.
