I posted a few days ago after one of my chicks survived a dog attack. There were no obvious cuts or bruises, but the chick would not walk. He has been obviously backed up on poop, but has been pooping a little.
My main concern is that his belly and the area around his right leg (which seems to be the main problem leg, despite no obvious broken bones) is full of air. Its definitely air and not fluid. My guess is that this is causing pain and making him unwilling to use his leg. His inability to walk is probably preventing the pooping.
Ive researched a lot and found a lot of situations that seem similar, but are different in one critical way or another. Its definitely not an internal egg, as the chick is less than three weeks old. I can't find any swollen spots that suggest its an impacted crop. I cant find any proof of a sour crop, but don't see how this would have occurred anyway due to a dog attack.
If I can't solve the problem within the next few days, or he doesn't get better somehow, I feel like I need to put him down. I really don't want to do this, of course, but he will not live a decent life if he can't walk and is in pain. Any suggestions are welcome so I don't have to do this difficult thing.
