hi! First time posting but my baby chick was born from incubator about five days ago and the humidity had spiked and then dropped without me realizing it in the middle of the night it spiked then dropped in mid day during the hatch. The chicks left foot appears to be slightly deformed it’s a silkie and one of the toes goes into the middle of the foot. It also has curled toes and I’ve tried bandaging them and he keeps taking them off every time. He will not put any pressure on the foot and can’t straighten it all the way! Please advise me what to do he’s so tiny and such a fighter!

Cut a piece of adhesive tape, or use the sticky part of a band aid. Stand the chick's foot on the sticky part. Gently adjust the toes into the proper position, then fold the rest of the tape over the top, or cut the sticky part on the other side of the band aid, and put it on top. Press gently around the sides, so the top, and bottom stick. Press gently between the toes, so the top, and bottom stick. You may carefully trim some of the excess if needed. Leave it on for 2 days, then remove it, and if needed, repeat. Don't leave it on longer than 2 days, without replacing. Usually it will only take 2 - 4 days to correct the curled toes.

Thanks!! Will do! Can they normally not walk or put pressure on it at all?!

Over the years, I've had a few with curled toes that couldn't. Normally, they could, but there were exceptions.
