We had a batch of chicks hatch 3 weeks ago. all at the same time from the same clutch. However for the last few days one of the chicks has been wandering around the brooder all hunched up and he is always peeping. The other two are enormous compared to him, which made me even more worried. However this morning I went in to check on them and the little one (named Quin) couldn't seem to lift his head up. It is tucked firmly between his legs but he refuses to sit down. He walks around backwards but with his eyes shut, so he is always crashing into things. Whenever I try to pull his head up he can't seem to hold it up himself or he pulls away from my finger and just lets it drop. He sometimes moves it from side to side of looks like he's cleaning his belly but I'm really worried.

Please help these are family pets and I don't want to lose any or them.

I am going to say maybe wry neck, I can't honestly remember what someone else called it, there are threads on here. Let me take a look

I can't find them, but it may be a vitamin deficiency

Well thanks for trying. The poor thing passed away this morning but it was very peaceful. He fell asleep. I'm pretty sure from looking at some other information that it was Wry Neck he had. Oh well...we will know for next time.

the first place to look is the feed and water. Feed should be fresh and water should be clean. Brooder should be cleaned too. Even if you have to change the water 20 times a day you gotta do it. Waterers should be cleaned with hot water. They don't always show it but they get slimey inside.
