Hatched early this morning, and I found her with *Mom*, a heavy orp, standing on her. Think she might have broken her? trying to figure out if this is something I can fix or if I just need to cull...

Looks as if she might have sprawled her legs. The mother might of stepped on her or it's legs could of been deformed that way when he/she hatched. Why don't you wait a week and see if the chick's walking improves. I have had chicks that look like yours and are walking perfectly fine now.

Thanks, thats helpful to hear. I dont think the legs were like that (I saw it just after hatch and it didnt stand out) but I also wasnt looking for it and it could have taken a little while to notice.

I would also add some vitamin to the water.

Please keep us updated on this thread to see if the chicks walking progresses a little. If not, then euthanasia is the only solution.

Thanks--yep, added some vitamins and electrolytes and she/he definitely perked up remarkably. When I pulled her out from under moms foot, I thought she was dead she was so unresponsive. Now shes energetic and bright, but completely gimpy.

She may recover, or not. I'd give her some time too, and hope for the best. If she's not improving, it's time to cull.
If she was clearly injured, that's one thing. If she has a problem not caused by an injury, keep her out of the breeding group.

That was exactly like my girl was, she got worse after that, please update!
