3 Day Old Chick - Wry Neck or Something Else?

Thank you for all of your help @Wyorp Rock @Debbie292d

Unfortunately the little chick passed yesterday morning. She wasn't improving, and then I woke up to find she had passsed in the night unfortunately. The heartbreak of raising chicks for sure!
:hugs I'm sorry about the little one.
Sometimes no matter what we try they fail to thrive.

Sorry for your loss, I'm dealing with neck also with one of my serama. @Debbie292d helping me here. I bought liquid selenium but it doesn't say how much to give and how often? I mixed it up but how much how often. Sorry to interject here .

Never seen that product before. You'd just have to follow the directions if that's what you want to use. If it goes in the drinking water, then the bird would drink water free choice.

While Selenium is important and helps with the uptake of E, it can also be over given. Generally the treatment for Wry Neck is Vitamin E and B-Complex. Egg has sufficient selenium.
Starting vitamin therapy is good. 400IU Vitamin E and 1/4tablet B-Complex. Continue with the egg and mushy feed, electrolytes are o.k. but do give some plain drops of water too.

I'm always thinking my silkies need extra everything, but I'm also careful of overdosing. If you use this, that will undoubtedly give them the max or close of the selenium they should have in a day.

I wouldn't feed them anything with egg yolk in it then if you're going to use this. Also, black oil sunflower seeds are up there, too, so just be careful, as too much selenium can be harmful to them.

Oh boy I'm more confused then I was. I've been giving her B12 and .05 ( one time) of the selenium. I think I'll use @Wyorp Rock suggested, seems easier. Thank you so much for always being available. Any more suggestions would be helpful. I'm wondering if I should put that in water ? But then my other two birds would drink it as well. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Oh honey, I'm not sure where you read to give a selenium supplement other than scrambled eggs, but it'll be okay. Treatment is usually only for a couple of weeks, so I'd go ahead and put it in their water, as that's easiest, provided it doesn't taste nasty. If it does, you can add a little bit of honey to their water.

A telltale way to know if you're overdosing selenium is their breath might smell like garlic.

Yes, you should give Vitamin E. 400IU, you can find it at stores like Walmart, CVS, etc.
Also get a bottle of B-Complex and give 1/4 tablet daily along with the E.

B12 is just B12 (Cobalamin), B-Complex has B1 (Thiamine) which is what you want to accompany E, as well as B2, Niacin, etc. Several different B vitamins in there that are all beneficial.

Examples of E and B-Complex.

I'm sorry, I saw this before you edited it and thought you meant "sure" you were going to give her some E. E is the most important thing. The selenium is just to help the E do its job more efficiently.
