Hello! I hatched a few satin silkie eggs last week and one of them hasn't walked since. It kind of lays on its side most of the time and tries to move around a little on it's hocks. It's legs were pretty far apart so I've been treating for splayed leg but it doesn't seem to be helping. I also have vitamins in their water. It just doesn't seem to be able to want to walk, any help would be appreciated!

I would get a super B complex tablet or capsule, human ones from any pharmacy, and give 1/4 of one daily, you can either pop in in the beak or grind it up and mix in a tiny bit of moistened feed so it will stick. Riboflavin deficiency, which can start inside the egg, can cause hock sitting and curled toes. You may need to continue to hobble if the legs keep spreading/splaying, until it's resolved. You can also use a chick chair to help keep it upright and so it can eat and drink, until it finds it's legs. Link below has some examples. The B's are very safe, no worries about too much, any extra will be excreted. When there is a deficiency it can take high doses to get it reversed, and then they can maintain normal levels again on regular feed amounts.
