Hello all.

Bought a chicken now a few weeks old, had a very pale comb a few days later and was sneezing and had a crackly chest. The vet gave me a 7 day course of Baytril to try, the Chicken still eats well and drinks, and the comb is now alot pinker, still sounds snotty and sneezing occasionally

should i just keep it seperate for another week and see if it perks up, dont want another visit to the vet, gets expensive ££ as cant buy antibiotics with perscriptions in the uk

Thanks all

Welcome to BYC. If your other chickens are healthy, this one may be a carrier of a contagious respiratory disease such as mycoplasma (MG,) coryza, ILT, or infectious bronchitis. Adding this one to your flock might not be a good idea, since he could be a carrier for life. Here is a good link to read about those diseases: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ps044
