Hi all, new here! I have been searching high and low throughout the interweb. I am genuinely hoping anyone can answer this question:

If the hen and the rooster both have enormously large combs and wattles, will developing chicks produce combs and wattles sooner? Or are earlier (3-weekish) large combs with a pinkish hue always considered a cockerel? Basically, how much impact do the parents' traits have on their offspring? Is it still always basically small, yellow comb / no wattles = pullet and larger, pinkish, red comb / developing wattles = cockerel... no matter what breed or what their parents look like?

I know there are always caveats and sexing chicks is at times a waiting game...

Thank you so much!

Welcome! Chicks inherit traits from each parent, and comb types are totally heritable.
If you are talking about parents with large single combs, for example, all their chicks will have single combs, because it's a recessive trait. Other comb types are a bit more complicated, and can hide a recessive single comb trait, so if both parents have this hidden recessive, some chicks may have single combs.
Pictures!
Bigger brighter colored combs develop first in cockerels, true.
