I'm used to candling my light sussex bantam eggs as they have a light shell which allows me to see the veins inside the egg much easier, but I've started incubating some of my welsummer hens eggs and I have no idea whether there is a chick developing inside, help please!
(some photos I have filtered so you can see the egg better, I apologise for the awful photos and candling!)
Which are developing and which aren't?

Thanks!

How long have the eggs been incubated? For sure, #1 is developing. #2 doesn't look like it is, though. I'm not sure on the other two eggs.

I'd say 1 for sure, 2 I think so, 3 no, 4 no, and 5: is that a blood ring? I agree with Wyandottes7- how long have these been in the incubator?

the day I candled them they had been in the incubator for 7days. I've never had a blood ring before what is it??
A blood ring is like a dark line that runs around the inside of the egg. It means that the embryo has died.

This is what candled eggs should look like if all is going well: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/candling-pics-progression-through-incubation-of-chicken-eggs

Scroll down a bit on this page to see examples of blood rings http://animalscience.ucdavis.edu/avian/pfs32.htm

Thank you! It's more of a think line, it doesn't go around all of the egg, hopefully it's not a blood ring :)

Wow, they definitely look like they are developing nicely! Congratulations! Hopefully you'll have little chicks soon! :thumbsup
