The egg pipped yesterday around 830am and was not quite out of the egg when I went to bed. When I woke up the chick was out of the shell but dead. I was using the little yellow based dome shaped incubator that holds up to 7 eggs. There is condensation in the dome so there was some humidity although I don't know what level. I purchased a larger styrofoam box style incubator from the local farm store and have eggs that need starting. I was just wondering what might have happened and what I can do to prevent this from recurring. I included pics of the two incubators so you can see what I'm changing to. Thanks for input.

:welcome and sorry to hear about the loss. It's hard to tell, especially w/o seeing it first hand. Healthy chicks do not die after hatch unless there's something in the environment causing it. I have next to no after hatch mortality. It is very rare that I loose a hatcher, but it does occasionally happen. Were your vents open to allow for oxygen exchange? It's better not to see condensation in the bator. The chick could have had something internally wrong that caused the death.
I would highly suggest having your own thermometer and hygrometer in the new bator that has had accuracy verified.
