My chicks were born 2-21 to 2-22. I have lost two of them. They look like they are panting, and gasping for air. Then they die, everyone look great this morning. Have water and start grow crumples. The are in a 3 foot long breeder box with heat only in one foot of that. I am useing a 75 watt bulb to heat it. The temp is 95 but that is not right under thelight it is at the end of the one foot. Can anyone help me?

It should be 95 right under the brooder light. If the chicks are cold they will go under the light. There should be room in the brooder box for the chicks to get away from the light if it gets to warm under the brooder light.

It does have a spot that is 95 and the box is three foot long so there is alot of room to get out of the heat.

Are they gathering under the light to sleep since you changed the bulb? If they are all huddled up they are too cold. If they are sleeping away from the light they are too hot. If they are sleeping cozily under the lamp, it is just right.
