So far two of my chicks have hatched and one stand up fine but he other lays flat with its legs straight out in front of it. Is this abnormal? I have tucked the legs underneath it but it sprawls out and lays flat. Any clues????

Its been used several times. We had to reinforce the walls with Popsicle sticks. The little table is made of a piece of cardboard from a 12 pack and Popsicle sticks. We slide it in the front so we can put lids with food and water on it to where they can reach it. The holes are for its legs. Depending on the size of the chick you might have to cut another hole for poop to fall through.

I had a chick with a splayed leg..just hobble the legs together...but make it where they can walk. I used soft yarn. Kept it that way for a week and now the chick is a month old and runs with the rest of the chicks!

I posted the pic of the chair cause its easy and cheap to make. It works to get them off their legs if they are swollen. If they move around on their hocks for to long they will swell and crack open. The chair is what they will tell you if its a slipped tendon.

Thanks for the help everyone. The chick still wouldn't stand or eat and I took a close look and it could only open one eye and hardly made noise. So I culled it this morning. Thanks again!
