Hi folks. I need some help with a four day old chick. I'll try and describe this as best I can. The chick was small to begin with but pretty active. The last two days it prefers to lay around, stays under the brooder lamp and seems to have a problem walking.

Never catch this chick standing when I check on them. It can stand up and walk, but does have some difficulty, can't seem to keep the legs right under it. After researching here and elsewhere on the net, I can't decide if this is splay/spraddle leg problem or possibly a totally different problem.

I have given all vitamin supplements. Now I am wondering if I should tape this chicks legs. Any ideas or advice is appreciated.

Are you keeping them on a non-slippery surface? i've never dealt with spraddle leg, but i did have one chick who experienced problems the first several days after hatching. Her legs were a bit bowed out and she had trouble standing. It got better slowly and now she's fine. There is information on this site about spraddle leg and how to tape the legs, if you do a search.
