Chick dying

I would try to get the chick drinking water with electrolytes. A few drops of molasses can help to stimulate it to poop. Mineral oil or olive oil can be good to stimulate to poop, but giving those orally can be dangerous. Pasty butt is sometimes from shipping stress or being too hot. How high is the lamp from the chicks? It should be a minimum of 18 inches from their heads. A larger brooder would help so they could get to a cooler spot if they are too hot. If he is already acting weak or lethargic, it may be too late to save him. We never know what chicks go through during shipping or sitting in a feed store. A lot die unfortunately.

We had a power outage about half way through the incubation process. Most of the eggs didn’t hatch. 5 did and one died yesterday. I’m wondering if maybe that affected the development of the chick.

We hatched these.
