It seems like this chick hatched earlier than it should have. When he hatched i noticed that a cord is still attached to him and his belly looked bloated and kinda blue. I decided not to intervene and leave him in the incubator to see what happens next. After 24 hours the cord dried out but was still attached to him amd the hole in his belly to which the cord was attached had a bubble naer it. Even after 24 hours his fur has not fluffed up but he is quite active.

What should i do guys? Plzz help!

It's very dry, I can't decide if it's dried yolk sac that wasn't absorbed or the egg waste that dried to his fluff. If it's not egg waste, then it's much more than a hernia... I'm not sure you can do much more at this point other than cross your fingers and hope that everything important was absorbed. I wouldn't remove it, let it dry and fall off. Hopefully someone else will be of more help but my best piece of advice would be to keep the brooder as clean as possible because if it's yolk sac then the navel likely hasn't sealed properly and it will more readily allow in bacteria.

Thanks a lot for replying. Not sure but i think its the dried out egg waste not the yolk sac. When it was not dry it looked like the waste thats present in the egg after the chick hatchs. What i am most worried about is that the naval hole is still open. Just hoping that the chick will survive.

Ok! That's a really good thing then! If it's just egg waste and a slightly open navel then all it needs is time and a very clean brooder. The waste will fall off, or you might be able to snip it since it's so dry now that it's unlikely there is any blood. Just make sure to sterilize any snippers before using them and I would opt to snip with some of the cord still sticking out rather than trying to snip close to the navel but it would get the waste off. You can also dab the navel with triple antibiotic ointment WITHOUT pain reliever (pain reliever is toxic to chickens) but it will likely start to darken and look like a dark button on his belly as it heals.

I will try snipping some of that and apply some ointment.

Thanks a lot for your advice. :)
