I have 6 Easter Egger chicks that are 5 days old today. Healthy and growing, except one of my babies is having problems with her eyes. They seem so get stuck shut. I have to wipe them with a moistened cottonball to get them back open. Any advice?

Humm, does it's eye have "Crusties" or anything around it?
Just keep wiping it with a damp cloth, might try a warm damp cloth. Sorry not much help.

I had a little silkie from my last hatch do this. I just wiped the area with a warm cloth & applied a little terramycin eye ointment....it was fine the next day. I think they sometimes pick up a little bacteria during the hatch...or maybe just eye irritation. You can get the ointment from your vet...I always keep some around.

Thanks. I have kept her eye clean and it is helping. I picked up some homopathic ointment from the healthfood store and put that on her. I will check with the vet tomorrow for some antibotic ointment if the problem persists
