Chick feed question!!

Has anyone heard of chicks dying from medicated feed?? The hatchery I ordered my chicks from highly recommends un-medicated feed for this purpose. Does this sound correct?

i havnt heard that but im fairly new to chickens, so i may not have been around it long enough to know that, but interested to know myself as i have been using medicated.

If the hatchery is vaccinating your chicks for coccidiosis, you should start them on UNmedicated feed. Or you can ask the hatchery NOT to vaccine for cocci and feed the medicated feed. The Medicated feed includes amprolium, which I understand cancels the coccidiosis vaccine. Here's a link to more info, and you can use the Search bar up there on the right to find out more.
