@aart asked me for a few photos of the chick feeder I built for the hens I have now. I got pretty frustrated with store bought chick feeders with them billing the feed out, pooping in it etc. This feeder is used up against a wall so it won't tip over.
The view from above with the chick guard off. I did layout the holes and used a hole saw to cut them out.
The bottom is made from a bit of aluminum flashing and stapled on.
The view of the back side, you can see the 2 screws on each side in slots so the chick guard can be pulled off for servicing.
The whole thing was just made on the fly from scraps I had laying around. The first time I put it in IIRC I just over filled it a bit so the chicks could see the food.
