my daughter had the chicks out and while my back was turned to get food one fell in pool. I got it out fast and it seemed like it was gasping I rinsed it in water bc I wasn’t sure of all the chlorine water. I wrapped her in towel and have her under heat lamp. Hoping she’s just in shock but I think she may have died. My daughter is 5 and so sad. Any help?

I just had to get my toddler to sleep but it seemed limp when I layed it down. I held her close to me at first and had her and towel and could feel her breathing but I’m scared that she stopped. Was hoping she was just in shock but I’m not sure.
She might have gotten water in her air sacs, which you can unfortunately not do anything about that. If it does end up dying and your toddler is crying and everything, read her this poem, and I think it will help.

“Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….”

Yes I second rubbing the chick quite vigorously with something soft like a towel. I had a chick once nearly die of cold when the heat lamp shorted out but luckily I found her just in time. I took her somewhere very warm and rubbed her and kept her moving and she slowly came around.
I hope its not too late for your little chick.

Yeah she’s so limp and not breathing. It’s hard to do anything because it’s so sad to me. I feel terrible. I know they are so fragile but I just wasn’t prepared for this. She wasn’t in long I really didn’t think she would die from this. Do they breath when in shock? I can’t tell for sure if she’s not but it seems like she’s not responding at all and very limp. So sorry for all this. Thanks for the tips.
