Chick fever is strinking AGAIN!

Hi y'all it's that time of year again, and I'm really really excited about getting new chickens I had ordered all different eggs that were fertile from the mail but by the time we got to me I had time to second-guess myself whether or not I wanted to be committed to turning the eggs Etc oh, so I ended up giving the eggs to one of my close friends to do of course she'll give me a few in the near future the thing that excites me is I just called Tractor Supply and they should be getting baby chicks next month now I want a nice array I would love to have some Easter Eggers and a few different colors in the mix I heard that they all mean order female sexed chicks but I may be wrong, a feed store that that gets them near me used to only get female sex chicks which made it pretty convenient..... does anyone know if this is true about Tractor Supply also I know they get different ones as the season goes on I just wish I can grab them all at one shot I might have to hop around and see what Agway has as well as they also get only female sexed chicks....I'm realllllly excited!!!!! Anyone else out there or is it just me I would love to hear from you all also I'm from Connecticut so if there's any updates on anyone having chicks let me know!!!

I have not purchased chicks from Tractor Supply before. I have it lucky that I have a locate feed and grain store that has chicks every year that they purchase from Meyers.

@Organic Gal , I’m just over the PA line from you. What feed store do you deal with? I was going to drive up to Gap, PA because Stoltzfus Feed orders from Meyers. Just curious if your local store might have a different selection of breeds.

I have not purchased chicks from Tractor Supply before. I have it lucky that I have a locate feed and grain store that has chicks every year that they purchase from Meyers.

We have a lot of female chickens here. Its never been an issue... I can't imagine having an issue on lacking chicken used for breeding.

I know right now it's a waiting game as it's still early in the season although I want a wonderful array of chickens not just all the same color I want like mixed colors some Easter Eggers Etc you know, and it's way too early to order them from hatcheries as I'm in Connecticut and it's very expensive I might as well just wait I got a check around at the local feed stores to see when they're doing their shipment tomorrow is my day where I call in a noise everybody hehehe I just want to know who's getting what when I like to do like what I did last time I got some from Tractor Supply some from Agway some from a local feed store and I had a wonderful arrangement!!!! Thanks for the info hopefully other people will hit me up as they hear more and more information

they didn't tell me what types of breed they were getting in..... although they said in February all the other feed stores I checked are not getting them until April or late March and I don't think I can wait that long I was thinking of hatching them myself but I'm done with babies he he he

In my 20 years of keeping chickens I've only had one or two colored laying chickens and I'm really really leaning towards having at least a few in my block at least 5 out of a dozen and then the rest I want one of each different kind that I've always wanted I want a Polish as well

Oxford Feed and Lumber in Oxford, PA always has baby chicks in the early spring. This year they should have them Feb 20 or 21. They will have them for many weeks as they keep ordering. I'm not sure they get them from Meyers though. You could go on their website to confirm when they will get them.

I know Oxford F&L, I live in Lincoln University. I can check with them and ask who the hatchery is. I was curious where you are getting yours because I’m looking specifically for Meyers, especially Rhode Island Red, theirs are bred big. I would like to order from the hatchery, but I can’t pay $35 shipping.

I know that's a lot of money for shipping. They told me yesterday that they were ordering three breeds that they always order and one additional special breed each week. They always have Buff Orpington, Rhode Island Red and Easter Eggers at least that's what the manger told me yesterday.
