I have 7 2 week old chicks. I ran out of chick starter food. (I know bad move on my part) I haven't had a chance to get to the store to buy food due to my work schedule. Is it safe to supplement with layer feed for a couple of days?

I haven't a clue, so don't take my word for it, but i would think that there would. E to much calcium in it for the chicks. Chicks dont need calcium until they start laying. Theres quite alot of calcium supplements in layer feed and i do know that too much calcium could damage kineys and other things.

For a few days, better to feed the layer than to guess at making a suitable feed. If it's in pellet form it'll either need to be crushed down to starter size, or served wet so it breaks down so the chicks can eat it.
