chick food?

okay I know there have been other threads discussing this but I just want to make sure it's okay to feed my chicks chick medicted starter intil they're at POL

Yes, you may feed them chick feed, with amprollium, all the way to point of lay. Others, prefer to feed them a grower from about week 8-18. Some feed companies only make a starter/grower combination feed and that also gets fed all the way.

We plan on chick starter until we see an egg or may switch to grower after 8 weeks I dunno. Haven't decided.

Unrelated: I have a sinking suspicion we are roo heavy. Roos are great but we can't have them here. Well, maybe I'll end up with 4 dinners and one layer. Lol.

I agree you can do it, but it's not best practice. Ideal is to withdraw the medication in stages (i.e. starter, then grower) so the birds have the chance to develop strong resistance to coccidiosis.

I'm sure your birds will be fine whatever you do, just wanted to add the rationale behind moving chicks to grower at an appropriate age.
