I THOUGHT I had removed all possible nail problems when I had moved in the new coop, but my high-flying WL flew up about 6 feet and caught her neck on a nail. :( She doesn't seem to be doing to bad, she has dried blood her neck feathers, but she is acting normal. None of the other chicks are pecking on her and I don't know if I should seclude her or not, that may be really really stressful on her. It was a rusty nail. Should I put anything on her? (I don't have blukote.) Are chickens susceptible to Tetanus?

Clean wound, then apply an antibiotic ointment(nothing ending in "caine"toxic to chickens). If no antibiotic ointment available, use a diluted solution of hydrogen peroxide. I would keep her separate,if any blood is showing other chickens will peck at her and consequences may be dire.
