Chick grit question.... 1st post!

Thanks for the replies, everyone. And also, thank you for making this site so great.. I've learned so much here.
I think I owe it to everyone here to post some pics of my chicks when I get them this weekend!

I guess maybe I'll just use some sand for grit once I start offering them greens and treats.

Does anyone know if it's ok for chicks to have oyster shells?
 
NO!!! Do not feed oyster shells to chicks! Only offer to pullets at point of lay or once they are laying!

The extra calcium can muck up the chick's growth when fed too early.
 
I don't think chicksshould have oyster shell, but maybe some one else will chime in and correct me!

I just opened the pack of little bird grit that has oyster, and it's very noticeable since the oyster shells are the black specks. I honestly don't think its too much a problem, my chicks always peck around the specks.
