Chick grit vs Poultry grit

Our Tractor Supply has quit carrying chick grit and is only carrying MannaPro Poultry Grit. Can this be used with newly hatched chicks?

I wouldn't! The chunks in grit designed for adult poultry are much too big. You'd be better off finding either a parakeet grit or coarse sand. Parakeet grit is available at pet stores - just be sure to look for one that doesn't have added calcium.

Of course, you might not even NEED grit, depending on what you are feeding them. If they are eating only commercial chick starter, they don't need grit. If you're supplementing, then they do.

Parakeet grit works well - I have honestly never purchased grit for our chicks. The complete chick starter feed will contain everything they need.
