Chick grit...?

Is it a requirement to give small chicks grit or not? I have read were they do not need it while they are on chick starter and I have read they need it within 2 days. Not sure what to do, thought I would ask some of you pros!

They don't need it if you only give them chick starter but if you starting feeding them treats they need the grit!

They don't "need" it but like missi said, you will if you start giving them treats. I've also heard others start giving grit early to help prevent pasty butt. I don't know if it really works but that might be the reasoning someone would start after 2 days.

Oh and instead of going to buy "chick" grit from TSC or feed store go get you some parrakeet grit from Wal-Mart!! It's less than $2.
