I have a 4 week old chick with this bloody bump on her eye lid and I'm trying to figure out what to do.
Should I put antibiotic cream on it, or is there something else that I need to do to treat it?
It looks like its been pecked at, but I don't know if it was because a hen got her, or the other chicks thought it looks edible, or both.
She's fine otherwise. Her actual eye looks fine, and she's eating and drinking.

I would just dab a little plain Triple Antibiotic Ointment on it, and it won’t hurt if some gets into the eye. Have you had any fowl pox from mosquitoes? If you see any more scabs, that could be a problem. But right now, pecking could be the cause. Was there a cyst there before?

The cyst wasn't there a week ago when I let the chicks out into the big pen. Since then its been hard to keep track. I haven't had any fowl pox, although we have plenty of mosquitoes. I went back and checked everyone that would stay still and didn't see any other spots like this.

The cyst has gotten worse and she's started to develop another one on her comb. I don't really know what to do now.

Ok, my current plan is this:
I'm going to treat this as an outbreak of fowl pox until proven otherwise, since i don't think that the second bump can be explained by just a peck wound. The chick has been isolated since I noticed her first bump.
The chicks can't be vaccinated until they are 8 weeks with the vaccine I have access to, so until then, I'll closely monitor the flock and isolate anyone else that shows symptoms. In the meantime, I'll be working on killing off as many mosquitoes as I can, and cleaning the coop and run.
