Chick has pipped egg and has beak out of a small hole but isn’t unzipping and seems to be gasping? Opening and closing beak repeatedly. Should I be worried? Anything I do to help? This is my first hatch but not something that any of the others before this one did while hatching.

I've had this happen to my chicks before. Usually they were underdeveloped and couldn't breathe because egg fluids kept getting into their beaks😔. How long has he been in the egg? How long has he been gasping? Can you see any bubbles forming around his mouth? Hope it's nothing and that he'll be fine.

Today is day 22 of incubation. The gasping has been going on for roughly an hour, no I don’t see any bubbles. I sure hope he or she makes it 🙏

Update: chick is here. Finally pushed out of the egg after assistance removing shrink wrapped membrane 😞 yesterday around 5:30pm Has swollen abdomen but is eating and drinking and walking around but one foot is curled. Definitely not as healthy as the other chicks. I have her/him separated and am watching the swelling. (Which doesn’t seem as severe today as yesterday)I will tape the foot as I have read about on this forum but I am going to wait and make sure they make it first. 🙏
