Chick has been chasing our cats

My birds won't put up with any feline nonsense either, especially Ginkgo. She has chased the cats that hang around on multiple occasions. Most of the cats that are feral and are excellent hunters but they want nothing to do with the angry ball of feathers charging at them. Chickens can have a surprising amount of moxie while cats can be surprisingly chicken lol

My cat is a real toughie on her side of the fence, making cat-ninja moves at the chickens. And then one day I got back from class and found her on the chicken side of the fence, surrounded by five inquisitive pullets at a distance of about 4 inches.

I have never seen such a look of desperation on her face, combined with “Hey, it’s cool, we’re all cool here, you gonna open that gate, like RIGHT NOW?!”

I had a chick recovering from a pretty extreme injury — full-on scalping, all the way down her back, with exposed bone and muscle tissue. She was about 8 or 9 weeks old at the time (someone will probably correct me on the exact age). During her recovery, she was hanging out on the sofa — when I turned my back for a second, and she somehow squared off with one of my parrots… who was more than twice her size.

Now, my parrots grew up around all kinds of rescue birds. They know not to mess with the little ones. But no mini bird had ever stood their ground like that- and then charged!!!
— let alone a half-healed chicken when my parrot was just minding its own business.

They didn’t retaliate. They just… flew away. And then hid. Now when Ouzo comes in the house, they fly away- 'Im not messing with that silver devil'.

I swear, they came out of that moment changed. 😂
Now the parrot watches- confused= as it is okay for a Dove to eat the chicken food? but not a big parrot sitting on the chaise minding their own business.

No surprise that your chick is staking claim to something... I know I have a few that do... hehe

First being raised together has almost no long term effect on behavior.

Second - how sure are you that she is a pullet? Sounds like a slow developing cockerel to me. I have had chickens for decade, and once I thought I had a pullet until close to 4 months. I was beginning to wonder when 'she' would lay eggs and looking hard at 'her' realized he never would.

After the neighbors dogs and cats whittled away my flock, leaving Henrietta as the sole survivor, I was desperate to get her some company.
Got chased into a take all or leave it, for 4 pullets.
On the plus side, Galoot is an awesome rooster. Pure gold with feathers.
