Chick has ouchie

Thank You. Blu-Kote is hiding it well so far. I watched a lot this afternoon. Close enough I can watch from my chair. None noticed so far. But did see that she was keeping it out of sight of the others. She would either have it towards the wall or up next to another chick, so it was out of sight. Smart little one.
Thanks to all you that have helped others with injuries and I read. :bowI had got some of the things, still need to get the ointment (on grocery list). I am not one to panic, just go into medic mode. Barked orders to hubby. Get in the chicken first aide box, bring me the saline, vetericyn, blu-kote,Vaseline and some q-tips. He brought it over asked what was wrong. Showed him. He asked if she would be okay. Told him I don't know, but more than likely she will be as long as she eats and drinks. Drinking more than anything right now, she has to stay hydrated.
When I saw her eating and drinking I told him. Said she should be alright, just have to keep it doctored so infection doesn't set in and the others don't start pecking at it.
They are in bed now, hear a few squabbles now and then. Someone getting into someone else's area.
And Thank You for the kind words of not beating myself up. :hugs
:thumbsup Gold star for having a Chicken first aid box!!:wee
You did very well! Sounds like she will recover nicely.

A tie wrap holding the wire on the top of the MHP had sharp piece where the extra was cut off. Cut the sharp piece off, turn it to where it is under the MHP on top and taped all of them so they can't move.

Oh I must have read it wrong. I thought you said the tie fixed the problem. So glad you were prepared and clear minded enough to save the fluffed.

Even as a kid/teen I never panicked. Was the one who took care of brothers when they got hurt. I just go into medic mode, emotional after done. Do the same with animals.
Dogs and Chickens have first aide boxes.

I would also second the putting something over it so it dont get infected. It might have been another chick picked at a small spot and made it that big or you have something sharp in your place you keep them that did that

Positive it was the plastic ziptie, which has been corrected. Skin and fluff was rolled down so know it was a tear and not pecking. Used a magnifying glass to see what kind of wound. Never saw one chick peck at it, rest of afternoon or evening.
