Chick has swollen butt, & can't poop. Belly has extended greatly. Need help please?

Most common is too cold or too hot in the brooder. Should be 95 degrees in the hottest place the first week and decrease by 5 degrees each week, with plenty of room to get out of the heat. They regulate by moving in and out of the warm spot as needed. If you are using a heat lamp, check the temp with a thermometer. If using a heat plate, then putting it at an angle lets them be closer or farther from it as needed.

I use a heating plate that maintains a steady 98°F, & it's slanted a bit higher in the front. Everyone else is doing great, except the one that died.

Sometimes things happen internally that are unknown. Could be genetic, an incubation problem, etc. Not every chick makes it unfortunately.
Is it possible it's butt is deformed?

I never noticed it ever made it's first poop outside it's shell like the rest.

If the chick never pooped, then yes, there could have been a deformity, it happens. I have seen pictures of chicks with two vents, and with no vent at all. Honestly, when you think about what happens in 21 short days, that a fully formed, living, breathing creature is made that is fully functional, it's kind of miraculous that so many are perfect.
