Chick hatched 5 hours ago and is not standing

Hmm... let it rest a bit, maybe the hatch was especially strenuous. If it still isnt standing in a few hours, then be worried.

not at this point.. a lot of new hatches will appear to be drunk.. they are just learning to walk, and they used a TON of energy getting out of that egg!

I've had chicks that were just too fat, too weak, too big, etc. that didn't get around at all for as long as 36 hours. It's not important at this point, really, since they don't need to eat or drink...and predators aren't an issue.

Give it as much time as it needs up to 36 hours, and then it'd be time to give it sugar-water on the side of its beak.

Poor thing is pushing itself around, it seems to be trying. Nothing (40) else in bator is doing anything - hatch date is today. I'm worried.

I promise you don't need to worry. Go to bed.

The early bird will get all of the others awake and working, and will be balanced and fluffy in the morning. It's okay!!!

Wow, love this site. Thanks for all the quick responses. I feel more hopeful. Thanks...
