i had a chick hatch at 11 last nite and its fuzz is stil plastered to its skin. does that mean my humidity is too low? or high? the hygrometer says 65% but i havent calibrated it

I do my lockdowns at 75%+ and my chicks dry off fine so it's probably not down to the humidity in your bator right now. It might mean that your humidity was too high throughout the whole incubation, leaving your chick with some of the un-evaporated egg white stuck to it. If so, don't worry. He'll look a bit gunky for a while but will fluff up eventually. If your other chicks hatch like that too you'll know to adjust your humidity down a bit for your next incubation.

But it also might be that your humidity was fine and you just haven't given him enough time to dry off yet. Chicks sometimes take over 24 hours to fully dry off and start looking properly puffy and fuzz-ball cute.
