I had a chick hatch and it looks like he did not absorb all of the yolk. Under his butt there is a small yellow blob. Has anyone else had this happen? Is he doomed to death? Does anyone have a picture to compare with?

Can you post a pic? Is the blob an almost white/yellow? Or an egg yolk yellow? How much of it is there?

I had the same reaction to my first hatch, and fortunately was in the chat room with an experienced hatcher. It is fine. Don't do anything, that is the way it is supposed to look.

Cant post a pic because i am not at home. The blob is yellow and about the size of a mechanical pencils eraser. This is the first time that i have came across this.

Sounds like it will be fine. If it's yolk yellow, just give it time to absorb. If its a thick white yellow, that's just the crap that usually ends up in the egg after they hatch. Sometimes they pull it out with them. When it's time to take him out of the bator, if he's still dragging it you can cut the rubbery membrane that's left with scissors. It should fall off on its own though.
