I ordered 8 chicks yesterday and one died on the way. My order was 3 Rhode Island reds, 2 Australorps, 1 barred Plymouth rock, 1 partridge Plymouth rock and 1 speckled sussex. I had thought the speckled sussex died but now I'm wondering if it was the partridge Plymouth rock. The light and dark brown striped chick above the golden buff (my neighbor gave me one of hers) is the one in question. Is she a speckled sussex or a partridge Plymouth rock?

Or did one of my Rhode Island reds die? I'm seeing more stripes today on one that I thought was a Rhode Island red. I'm so confused!

Wow, I never looked at their eyes! Crazy! The one with thin stripes has one little black stripe from behind her eye. I couldn't get a good shot of her. The one with broad stripes has brown marks around her eyes (see picture attached).

That photo looks like a Sussex to me. Not 100% sure, but the comment above about missing a Rhode Island red would make sense.

Here is the other one with a small black stripe behind the eye.
