edited to make it easier to understand haha

Yesterday I candled all 27 of my eggs for the second time.

We are at week # 2 and most are doing great. However, last week

I removed 4 eggs that were not fertile, and this week while candling I

removed 4 more. One of the 4 is what Im writing about. Alright, so when

I candling it, I knew it was dead. The egg had a weird look to it. Can't

really explain it though. The second thing I noticed was that the chick,

and all the veins were at the bottom of the egg, where the air sac is

supposed to be. SO. This morning I cracked it, And yolk came flooding out,

which I expected, but I saw no chick. Just yolk. So I looked into the cracked

egg, and in the bottom, in a bubble (the air sac), Was this tiny little

chicken. Anyone ever had this happen? Maybe Im just not looking hard

enough for answers, BUT every website/chicken info etc that I've read, hasn't

even mentioned THIS. I've hatched for 4 years (almost 5) NEVER had this happen.

Thanks

SC

Your air sac should not be at the bottom of the egg. It should be at the top. The round end should be up and pointy end down. If no chick or embryo, then not fertile or clear.

Thats what I meant, haha. The big end. Where the air sac is. Thats where the chick was.

I just say the 'bottom' of the egg, becuase normally thats just the way I think of it.

They're incubating on their sides, and were stored with pointy end down.
