Hello everyone! My chicks arrived this morning, all five appear to be happy and healthy at the moment. The only issue is that whenever one of my chicks drinks, she lifts her head up super high , like so, and then tips over backwards. She just kind of loses her balance for a few seconds, and then goes right back to normal. She drinks the most out of her sisters, and is find other than that. Also, if you can see from the picture, her right side is only slight protruding. It doesn't look like she is in pain, its just a little odd. Is that just from her wing position? Just wondering what is wrong with her, and how I might be able to help...

The bulge on the right side is a full crop. Perfectly normal. We're only a couple months into our chick adventure but our new chicks tended to be pretty clumsy at first. I'd say your chick seems ok so far. Freely eating and drinking are usually signs of good health in most animals.

Clumsy chicks are fun to watch! That is her crop. As for the drinking, she'll learn. She's cute - is she a Brahma?

Okay, great! Thanks for the quick responses! It's hilarious, she acts like she's drunk

Maybe I should call her Tipsy...

@Sjisty , I think she might be- I got her from an assortment of brown egg layers from My Pet Chicken. I wasn't sure if Brahmas could be brown (I apologize for my total ignorance, :) ). I really hope she is- I'm in love with her feathered feet!

I have another quick question... My chicks pasted up once, and I haven't seen it for about four hours. But the above chick keeps pecking at her butt, like there is something there. She literally spins around and tries to get at her tail feathers. When I pick her up to look at her vent, it's clear. I even saw her poop! So should I be worried? Or am I just being totally overly paranoid...
