Chick just hatched with foot curled in/under

Here is updated pics of the chick. We've had her foot taped flat (as flat as we could get it) and legs taped together since Saturday evening. These pics are from monday evening. Let me know if anyone has any ideas or input.

Glad your chick is doing well! You should also be treating with vitamin therapy instead of just trying to fix the symptom but not the cause. See hatching link..

Chick quality score starts around page 48 and describes red hocks there. Caused of curled toes and splay leg is on page 53...

I don't buy wet hatcher tray as a reason. Out of a thousand or more chicks hatched in the same conditions only a very few even had that.

Sincerely.

I have given poly vi sol with syringe twice but am concerned about aspiration. Any tips are giving vitamins? Thank you for the link! The information is so detailed. What do you mean by wet Hatcher tray? The type of incubator? Thanks for your help.

With our 2 wry neck chicks we put the vitamins in a syringe and about 4 times a day I would get them out and bip Thier beek in the syringe. They would lick it off their beek. Vitamin e is thick and sticky though. Was a bit scared of hurting them forcing beak open as new to chickens. First one was in our first hatch. Glad she seems to be doing ok.

Here is the baby with the curled foot. It is day 9. Shes had her foot taped flat and tethered to the good leg daily or more, I'm having trouble getting it to stay tethered because I'm having to do the tape job alone usually and it's really hard trying to hold the fluffy wiggly thing still with one hand with sticky, loose tape in the other hand while trying to get the placement just right and not too tight. I'm getting much better. She has poly vi sol in her water in addition to a few direct drops from a spoon at least once per day. The joint is not very flexible and swollen. I took pictures in between tape changes and will retape now. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

That first picture looks like you can see the shape of the end of the bone under the skin with the bulge on the side looks like the tendon that should be in the bone groove.

Can she get around? Is she using it at all?

She can get around but hopping and using her wings. I dont think she can use the leg willingly. Like she doesnt have the ability to put it down, straighten it, move it, etc. The joint is very stiff and will not fully straighten easily and I haven't tried force. The tendon is visible and can be moved slightly one way or the other but I don't even know which way it supposed to go. Theres a scab on the side from a scrap which makes it really hard to tell what's supposed to be where.

From the pictures my guess is that the tendon is out of place and has probably shortened and won't be able to go back in place. If this is the case then I don't think she will ever get use of the leg.
However there are other threads on here about chickens that have lost the use of one leg but manage well enough.
Hopefully someone with more experience will be able to offer more advice.
