So, I had nine chicks of an unknown breed. They're all yellowish-orange. Just now, one of them died! I have no clue how. Here are the factours:

Producer's Pride Metal Brooder/Heater
https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/producers-pride-metal-brooder-with-heater-cc-brooder4

Medicated water (Rooster Booster) and medicated Purina Starter Food

The day before yesterday, when we brought them home, another chick died (but we had her separated from the others the entire time and her belly was bloated)

This chick, then I checked on her this morning, was fine. She wasn't lethargic, limping or droopy. She just turned up dead! Her belly wasn't bloated, and she didn't feel like she had parasites or anything. I'm afraid that I'll lose the others, too, if she had something contagious. Please help!

The breed was possibly a Rhode Island Red. were they more skinny?

They're not RIRs. I just raised some RIRs, and they were significantly more red. These guys are leaning on the yellow side, with just a tint of orange. They're also pretty chubby.

Do they look something like this? They may be a Buff Orpington, a well-known and common breed.

I'm sorry for your loss! Could you tell us a little bit more about your brooder setup, the temperature and what you are feeding them? Pictures would be helpful too. It's also quite possible that you did nothing at all wrong, little chicks sometimes just die. They are more vulnerable if they have just been through the stress of shipping.

Another thing you can do to monitor the well-being of your remaining chicks is to weigh them frequently, daily or every few days. If they are acting healthy and putting on weight then they are probably okay.

Well, I unfortunately don't have a thermometer, but if I had to guess, it's probably about 80-85 degrees in there. I had pine shavings in there, but the chicks kicked them through the mesh flooring. I'll send a picture in a second!
