Chick N Barn

I have a pastor who has come to me for some chickens (I said I would give him a few when he made a coop)

3 months later he contacted me last week he has a Chick N Barn coming next week!!!

How could you say no to a Pastor!!! I have it down to my 12 best girls

Eeeling much better I have eggs coming nest week

The mesurments seem smaller that a dog house ((I would give him Buff Rocks & a banty roo))

So how many chickens would fit comfortable in one of those Chick & Barns?

We have 5 banty Silkies in our Barn/Yard. The barn is fine room-wise, for them but the yard is on the small side even though we have both up off the ground on a 2 x 4 frame.

I don't want him to have any problems with pecking or anything!

I have never seen one in person!

He is making his own run to add to it so it would be bigger!

Maybe you could tell him that at this time of year, you've already gotten rid of all your extra birds and only have breeding stock and those with sentimental value left. Tell him you'd be happy to give him some chicks in a couple of months. Lots of people prefer chicks anyway, especially when they'll only have a few, as they can tame them down better.

I've got a chickNBarn. If you look at my webcam during the day, you can see it in the right hand side of the image when the cam is broadcasting from outside. It's the silkie grow out pen currently. Since my silkies don't roost, it will work OK for them - they just pile up all together in a corner anyway.

When I got mine, I was planning on keeping my 8 girls in there. There is NO way it would work for them now that they are grown up. I'd put a max of 4-6 adult large (standards) birds and around 8 bantums. That's if they have a largish run and are basically only sleeping in the barn.

Although you can read the dimensions when you order it, when you open the box and start putting it together, it's still a LOT smaller than I envisioned it. The top of the barn comes up about chest high to me.

I moved my water/feeder into the attached small run so that I can close them into the barn/run at night (which is fortified with dug in wire all around) and they still have access to food/water if I'm late letting them out. If the feeder/waterer were in the barn itself, that would take up a lot of the floor space.

Now, after that dissertation....I'd think the numbers you are talking would be fine in the Barn if he is building a larger run to go around it.
