Day 2 with my first flock:

My little Black Australorp spends A LOT of time sort of pacing back and forth and chirping pretty loudly next to the wall of the brooder facing where I usually sit when I'm watching them. The brooder is one of those big, "clear" plastic bins, so she can both see out and see a vague reflection of herself. The weird thing is that when I reach my cupped hand in to the brooder and leave it still, she comes over and hops on and off and seems to calm down a bit.

It's kind of heartwarming--I'm happy that she's not skittish. But on the other hand, I don't want her going bonkers when I'm not "in" the brooder with her. She also seems to nap less than the other 3.

The other chicks are more or less indifferent to "the hand from above."

Any thoughts?

i'm not an expert, but it doesn't sound like she's sick or that the heat is too much/little... it's nice that she's not skittish!

good luck!

Maybe a pocket baby?
