Chick not eating help!!!!!

It's always possible that there is some internal defect. Sometimes they fail to thrive and there is no clue why. But if she's getting enough fluids to carry on, maybe she'll come around. Careful about force feeding -- you don't want food in her lungs.

See thats what i am thinking now. I am not being too forceful. I am mainly rubbing it on her beak and putting it on the side of her beak to maybe try and get her to eat it on her own. What i have put in her mouth she spits it back out. But without food she will die, and i know she hasn't had any food in 3 days she ate a bit the first day i got her home, then she has not eaten again.

I am having similar issues with one of my chicks. She did great for 2 weeks and then stopped eating. I did get her to eat a tiny bit of a scrambled egg and mash but that was it. If you get some answers, post! I I'll be following.

Yours might be sick with something else. Mine is only 5 days old now if that, 2 days of her life she was being shipped. Then the other 3 she has been well like this.

I'm so sorry. I suspect that if you looked at her digestive tract that something wasn't right and she lasted as long as she could on the yolk sac nutrients.

Thats what i think too now anyways. That something was wrong.

My feed store will be getting more EEs on the 5 i plan on getting a few more. I will watch them very carefully before i make my pick though, so i don't grab another one like her.

Really sorry to hear this. It's always sad when chicks die despite our efforts.

I had a few like this from my order of chicks. They seemed fine at first but a few days later, at about 4 days, they just started laying around and had no interest in food or drink. I did my best to give them some nutrients but they passed anyway. I think it's just failure to thrive as a few posters have said. Still sad though. At least you'll be able to get more EEs!

thanks, i did change my mind and i got two SLW instead of waiting a week or so for the EEs to come in. So i just went a head and got the SLW left over from the store. Nickle and Dime
